This project is entitled Queer Communications and focuses on the ways that queer people can, often subtly, showcase an involvement in community. Taking inspiration from Hal Fischer’s Gay Semiotics and previous work on alternative forms of portraiture, it aims to capture the ways that queer people choose to represent themselves through keychains. While some are more functional, many contain items of a deeply personal nature, and the community created through these physical objects is incredibly important to recognise.
